FR2000 – An alternative to ISO
FR2000 is a requirement standard for management systems focusing on quality, environment, and occupational health and safety. The standard is based on the principles of ISO standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, and includes requirements for policy, objectives and action plans, laws and other requirements, market and sales, design, development, procurement, production, delivery, internal audits, deviation management, and improvements, as well as management review.
FR2000 is considered equivalent to ISO standards in public procurement in Sweden. FR2000 is used exclusively in Sweden. Obtaining an FR2000 certificate is proof that there is structure, control, and systematic work in a company regarding quality, environment, and occupational health and safety. FR2000 is applicable in all industries, primarily for small and medium-sized enterprises.
There are two reasons why a business chooses to become certified. One reason is that there are customer requirements for a displayed certificate and when it is specified in procurement documents. FR2000 is now widely accepted as a requirement in connection with the Public Procurement Act and has the same equivalence as the above ISO standards. The other reason is to let the requirements of the standard create conditions for structure, improvement work, and clarity in an organization. The requirements of the standard really help companies to think about finding systematic and effective solutions.
Who owns the standard?
FR2000 requirement standard is managed by an economic association where member companies appoint a board and a council. The association’s task is to develop FR2000 and make the standard attractive and accessible to as many companies as possible. Certification bodies Only accredited certification bodies are used for the certification process and issuance of FR2000 certificates. This means that the certification bodies are based on the same audit procedure as for ISO.

How is it structured?
FR2000 contains 6 chapters where the structure is flow-oriented. This means that in practice, you can start building from chapter 1 to 6. However, it is important to ensure that the flow follows the company’s own processes. Quality, environment, occupational health and safety, and competence supply are integrated into the requirements in a logical manner.
Why choose FR2000 over ISO?
There are several good reasons why you should choose FR2000 over ISO. Perhaps the most important reason is that FR2000 interprets the ISO standards in a flow-oriented way and therefore more pedagogical. It becomes easier to understand because you recognize your own operations. The standard is far easier to understand than ISO.
